The Big Island is split between the Hilo (Eastern) side and the Kona (Western) side. This list starts on the Hilo side and works south around the bottom of the island up to Kona.
- Akaka Falls (Est 30 min visit with paid parking)
- Rainbow Falls
- Volcano National Park– **ask about any active lava/closures
Steam Vents and Sulfer Banks (20 min stop)
Thurston Lava Tube (~30min stop)
Dinner at the Volcano house
petroglyphs maybe see the sea cliffs/arch (45 min drive to petroglyphs and then a 30 min visit to see the glyphs. Then a 5 min drive further is the sea arch.)

Kilauea Military Camp -indoor space incase its raining - Stay at Volcano Inn Bed n Breakfast
- Can do lunch at Eagles Lighthouse Cafe
- Lotus Buddhist Monastery– World Peace Bell and a Giant Buddha
- Black Sand Beaches (Turtles are a likely sight)
- South point (southern most part of the USA. There is a cliff jump and the place they believe Polynesians landed)
- Sunset Kai Lani – Nice food
- Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Kailua-Kona by IHG (Breakfast inc.)
- Pu’uhonua o Honaunau National Historical Park
- The painted church
- Clover and mug breakfast/coffee
- Magic Sands Beach
- Mountain Thunder Coffee farm tour and nature walk (it is in the cloud forest) Tour is about 20 minutes and is free, nature walk is $10per family self guided with picnic tables
- Mauna Kea summit
- Beach Tree Restaurant Bar and Lounge
- Southern Airway express – Prop plane (A super fun way to travel inter-island)
